The successful surgery started our country\u2019s quest for a more significant and sustained way to lose weight for health reasons, which also led to a gradual and steady increase in bariatric surgeries in the Philippines. In the subsequent years, the country\u2019s first Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, Laparoscopic Gastric bypass, and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy was done at the same medical center. To date, St. Luke\u2019s Medical Center, Philippines, has the most in number and variety of bariatric and metabolic surgeries in the Philippines.
